  1. Dice the garlic, onion, and bell pepper into small cubes. Sauté them over high heat with olive oil until softened.
  2. Add the ground beef and cook until all the liquid evaporates and the meat begins to brown.
  3. Add the peeled tomatoes, cabbage, and tomato paste. Let it cook until the vegetables soften.
  4. Using a spoon, mash all the ingredients together until the mixture starts to resemble a purée.
  5. Add the dry spices, then add the rice and cover with water.
  6. Keep the heat at medium and cook until the rice is al dente.

Serve with: Pita bread and yogurt.
